Statement of Work
Alexandra Duncan’s main interest is in form and space, and in the way that a three dimensional object changes as the viewer moves round it.
Her inspiration comes from nature. Her Dip HE work consisted of a series of pods, containing a hypothetical life-force inside a skin. This idea grew from consideration of the mystery enclosed in a wrapping, and is inspired by the transformative processes observed within insect pupae in the natural world.
Alexandra works with a range of mixed media, such as cellophane, resin, latex and various yarns and fibres. She loves experimenting with new and different combinations of materials and is fascinated by the possibilities of the infinite range of materials available to the contemporary artist.
