Janet Brown

Statement of Work

Drawn to colour in all its forms, this is Janet’s primary source of inspiration. Light, transparency, layering, reflective fabrics and threads are all important elements. Inspiration often comes from the natural world, and although her work is more abstract than realistic, patterns both in nature and manmade, often form part of her more graphic work.

Textile Practice

Janet enjoys the challenge of experimenting with different techniques to complete a piece of work; dyeing, printing, weaving, quilting, hand and machine embroidery are used and both silk and organza are favourite fabrics.
