Jenny Parker

Statement of Work

Jenny enjoys the added dimension of a tactile surface created by a stitched piece, drawing the viewer in. Consistent themes in her work are pattern, colour and texture, which she uses to interpret both the natural world, architecture, poetry or even a doodle. These often result in an abstract interpretation.

Textile Practice

Jenny likes to use both hand and machine stitch to create a textured surface using everything from handmade felt to recycled materials including found items, which reflect Jenny’s ongoing interest in recycling and repurposing. Other techniques she favours are dyeing, print and appliqué. Recent work is often three dimensional, with experiments in different kinds of vessels including basket weaving.
