Depicting human life and the human condition, through stereotyping and caricature, is Mavis Walker’s main interest and inspiration.
Textile Practice
Most of her work is about the sculpting of faces, heads and bodies, using cloth, stitch and other mixed media, as appropriate. Cloth is a good skin substitute and stitch has a great ability to sculpt the cloth into the desired shapes.
